What is a Soluble Oil Lubricant?
Soluble Oil Lubricants are water-soluble products used in conjunction with selected additives to provide maximum tool life and fine finishes. Soluble oil lubricants form an emulsion when mixed with water and the concentrate consists of a base mineral oil, extreme pressure additives and emulsifiers which help produce the stable emulsion.
What are Soluble Oil Lubricants Used For?
Soluble Oil Lubricants are most commonly used for heavy-duty metalworking operations where die life is the first priority but added protection for lubrication and rust protection are needed. Because they are diluted, they provide good lubrication and heat transfer performance. In many applications a chlorinated oil is required. However, they can be difficult to remove. Our line of soluble oils contains surfactants to assist with post manufacturing processes.
Choosing the right soluble oil lubricants is essential in maintaining the quality of your tools and assuring the best possible output of your application. For additional help identifying the right lubricant for your application, visit ICC’s guide: How to Choose a Lubricant.
